Ekiti State Police Command trains personnel on professionalism, crime prevention

The Ekiti State Police Command has commenced a training and reorientation programme for selected officers and men drawn from the divisions and formations across the State.

The training is in line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, in order to ensure effective service delivery to the Nigerian populace.

According to a statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Sunday Abutu, the training which is mandatorily scheduled for all personnel of the Command in batches will center on professionalism, Police Duties, Police Act and Regulation, Criminal Code, Musketry, Riot Drill and Foot Drill, Use of Firearms, Human Rights, Social Media Policy (SMP), amongst others.

Addressing some participants, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Akinwale Adeniran said the training and reorientation exercise, which shall be done periodically, shall remind the personnel of the basic police knowledge and skills acquired while in their training schools/colleges as well as exposing them to the modern-day policing strategies.

He said:”Crime prevention strategies, protection of lives and properties that include students, teachers, worshippers, private and government infrastructures, amongst others will also be discussed.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police while emphasizing the need for professionalism and better Policing system, implored the trainees to make good use of this training and reorientation period to arm themselves with the basics of policing and become better officers.
