A Five Star Hotel and Suit built by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Ekiti State, under the leadership of Comrade Oluseyi Olatunde, has been officially opened for business.
The Hotel located within the secretariat of the Union along Old Iyin Road is equipped with modern-day facilities for the comfort of lodgers and staff of the Union.
Performing the launch of the Hotel, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the General Administration Department, Governor’s Office, Mr James Owolabi, described the edifice as beautiful and promised that the government will patronise it.
Dignitaries at the occasion, including past leaders of NULGE, Council Chairmen, top government functionaries and community leaders showered encomium on the leadership of NULGE for such a great initiative which they said would be beneficial to both the present and coming generations.
In his remark, the National President of NULGE, Comrade Hakeem Ambali commended the state leadership for investing in such a meaningful venture, saying it is a sign of true service and sincerity to the Union.
Comrade Ambali expressed concern over the hardship faced by workers as a result of the fuel subsidy removal, urging the government to increase workers’ salaries by 300%, prune down the cost of governance and number of political aides.
Earlier, the Ekiti State NULGE President, Comrade Oluseyi Olatunde thanked God for the grace to conceive, commence and complete the project just as he acknowledged the support of members of the Union and government towards the realisation of the dream.
He said,” I cannot but appreciate God Almighty, the One who was, who is and forever shall be. It is by His grace and mercy that we were able to conceive, commence and complete this project.
“I say without equivocation that today marks one of the best days of my life, owing to the fact that all of you were alive, hale and hearty when this project started, and you are also alive to witness this special moment of the official commissioning of the NULGE Hotel and Suites
“In August 2019, I was voted in as the State President of our great Union, I made a vow with my God to spend every moment of my days in office providing tangible representation and qualitative leadership in such ways that all Local Government Workers in the State will not only feel a sense of belonging but also be direct beneficiaries of the dividends of leadership in the Union. In addition, I made a vow to leave behind a legacy that will be a point of reference to coming generations and the result is what we have here today.”
