...says State gradually actualizing Developmental Agenda
The Ekiti State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji on the approval by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to allow the State’s airport to commence non-scheduled flight operations.
In a congratulatory message co-signed by the Union’s chairman, Kayode Babatuyi and the Secretary, O’Seun Ogunsakin, the Union said the approval shows that the state is gradually inching towards having a functional airport after several years of agitations.
The NUJ commended Governor Oyebanji for the painstaking steps taken by his administration in ensuring that NCAA gave the approval, noting that the gesture underscores the fact that the governor is not paying lip service to the airport project which is expected to serve dual purposes of accommodating cargo and passenger flights.
The Union which expressed delight that the state’s 2025 budget is focusing on exploring the agricultural potential of the State said this would help in making good use of the cargo airport while also creating a more conducive environment for industries to thrive.
While commending the Oyebanji-led administration for its strategic actions on making the State accessible by air transportation, the umbrella body of journalists also urged the governor to put machinery in motion to ensure the commencement of commercial flight operations at the airport as soon as the corrective actions are completed and the NCAA gives its final nod for full operations.
