EKITI GOVT COMMENDS ONLINE JOURNALISTS FOR DISPLAY OF PROFESSIONALISM

…as NUJ Online Chapel seeks better recognition

Ekiti State Government has commended online journalists for displayed of professionalism and unbiased reportage.

It also lauded the contributions of members of the state NUJ online Chapel for the present administration led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

The state Commissioner for Information, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun who gave the commendations in Ado Ekiti when leadership of NUJ online chapel paid him a courtesy visit in his offfice noted that under the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji the chapel will be given due recognition.

He said his office will work in tandem with the Chapel, adding that their exploration into digitalisation has made them outstanding among conventional and non-conventional practitioners.

While seeking for continuous support and patronage from the chapel, he explained that his office will not operate outside the ethics of the profession, urging the members to work towards achieving the 6-point agenda of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

In his words, “We have an enlarged Excos to execute the 6-point agenda of Governor Biodun Oyebanji. I want to appeal and request for your continuous support, patronage and relationship. I want you to be fair in your reportage, we will not do anything outside of the norms.”

“I have gone through your request, we will give you due recognition. I will do whatever possible, reasonably, to put into process some of the issues raised.

The Chairman of the chapel, Comrade Ayodele Abere, told the commissioner that since the assumption of Governor Oyebanji in office, the chapel has not been given due recognition for coverage of government events.

He noted that Online Media Chapel is the future of Journalism, adding that partnership with the state government will boost the reportage strength of the government activities.

While congratulating the Commissioner on his appointment, he said the Chapel is also ready to partner with the government in the projection of its activities and policies. “Ever since the assumption of BAO, none of Online Media Chapel has been invited to cover government events.

“We are yet to be given the recognition at the state level. Some of the benefits enjoined by our counterparts, we want that to be extended to us as well.”
