The Ekiti State Government has endorsed the removal of two traditional Chiefs in Igede Ekiti over alleged insubordination.
The Chiefs are, the Oluri of Odo Uri Quarters, Chief Sunday Alade and the Odofin of Odo Igede, Chief Emmanuel Adetona.
The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye, gave the verdict, in Ado Ekiti, while presiding over a petition dated 15th April, 2024 and signed by the Onigede of Igede Ekiti, Oba James Aladesuru, seeking the government approval to remove the Chiefs.
Chief Afuye said the action became necessary following their failure to amend their ways, after two previous suspensions slammed on them by Onigede-in- Council.
Earlier, the Onigede of Igede Ekiti, Oba James Aladesuru, whose position was made known by Asa of Igede Ekiti, Chief Ola Ogunrinde, accused Chief Adetona of instigating the kingmakers against him.
However, the two Chiefs, denied the allegations, saying they were not holding any parallel government as being alleged by the monarch and other opposing Chiefs in the matter
They said that all efforts made to reconcile with Onigede and other aggrieved Chiefs always proved abortive, calling on government to give them more time to settle the matter amicablly but the demand was rejected.
While appreciating the state government on the matter, the Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, Mr. Gbenga Oluwatuyi, assured that he would always take all necessary steps to ensure peace and orderliness in the town.
