D.G Bureau of Civic Orientation Sensitizes Ekiti Students on Civic Roles, Responsibilities

The Director General, Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship in Ekiti State, Mrs Famuyiwa Olawumi, today, took to Olaoluwa Grammar School Ado Ekiti to sensitize the students on civic roles and responsibilities as citizens of the country.

According to Olawumi, the exercise was targeted at secondary schools in Ado Ekiti adding that the students were educated on the need to avoid unhygienic practices in accordance with the recent outbreak of cholera disease, to avoid such incidents in the state.

She advised the students to reenact the habit of hand-washing and ensure that they drink clean water and eat food that is covered.

According to her, “We are continuing with a series of awareness creation and sensitizing the students and pupils on their civic roles and responsibilities as citizens of the nation and Ekiti indigenes.

“The national core values include; patriotism, honesty, decency, the dignity of labor, hard work, religious tolerance. All these national core values are enshrined in the constitution of this great country and should be imbibed in the life of all citizens of the Nation.”

The D.G urged the students to imbibe the culture of Ekiti Omoluabi such as “decency, simplicity, honesty, integrity and having an uncompromising stand on issues, not being stubborn but being principled not being dubious in their character. There is a need for them to appear decently, talk decently, and not behave like hooligans.”

She appreciated the Governor of Ekiti State, Boidun Oyebanji for his support towards the education of the younger generation.

“He is so passionate about the education of the state, making sure that even their school environments are in good condition. He has been making education free for them to access and he makes sure they get the best quality of education.

“Teachers are being trained, and educators are being employed and he is so focused on ensuring that the younger generation gets the desired moral principles and education that will arm them for the future.”

The D.G. revealed that the next sensitization exercise will take place at Ado Community Secondary School.
