The Ekiti State House of Assembly says there is no going back on plans to clampdown on filling stations engaging in fraudulent practices including manipulation of fuel pumps and subtle imposition of Point of Sale , POS charges on customers.
Rising from plenary earlier in the week after passing a resolution against the fraudulent acts, the lawmakers expressed worry that some filling stations cheat customers by dispensing less than the litres bought even at this challenging time of exorbitant fuel prices.
The deputy majority leader of the house, Yomi Ayorinde reechoed the position of the Assembly.
“The other worrisome dimension is the complete under dispensing that is going on, if one is buying at this expensive rate , then a litre must be a litre. We cannot fold our arms and allow this cheating, rip off and nonsense to continue, No, it’s not possible” Ayorinde declared.
He said any outfit found in the act will face the music adding that the house is partnering the state government and relevant agencies to clampdown on erring filling stations warning that no influence or connection will survive the onslaught.
“Any filling station that forces customers to pay extra charges for paying with their ATM cards or cleverly positioning a POS point to sell money to customers will be dealt with. The governor and all agencies of government are on the same page with us on this and the clampdown is starting immediately”. The lawmaker declared
