Ekiti ADP Suspends Chairman Days After Deputy Governorship Candidate Joins APC

The Action Democratic Party ADP has suspended its chairman in Ekiti State Mr. ADEKUNLE ABEGUNDE few days after the Deputy governoship candidate of the party Idowu Afuye joins APC.

The decision is contained in a letter, dated 14th of May 2022 and signed by National Secretary of the party Victor Fingesi.

It reads “I am directed to inform you that you have been suspended as Chairman of the Action
Democratic Party in Ekiti State with effect from 14t May, 2022

This became necessary foliowing preliminary investigations by a panel upon which the following findings were made

  1. Imsuberdination to the leadership of the party, by efusing to honour its invitation to the
    National Headquarters in Abuja to diacuss the lingering issues confrontinga the party in Ekit
    State, contrary to Articles 48:1 1, 48:2, 52:2/al, of the ADP Constitution.
  2. Attempt to conduct State Congress of the party outside the timetable approved by the
    National Working Committee (NWC) without the authoriaation to do so, contrary ta the ADP
    Guidelines for Congresses and Articles 52:2 (a). tcl, (d) of the party Constitution.
  3. Your fallure to intimate the leadership of aur great perty of the purported defection of the
    Ekti State ADP Deputy Governorship candidate, Comrade ldowu Afuye to the APC
  4. Premised on the foregoing, you are hereby notified that you (ADEKUNLE ABEGUNDE) no longer have authority and mandate to represent or communicate on behalf of the ADP
  5. In light of the above, you are hereby invited to face the disciplinary committee at the
    National Headquarters in Abuja, on Wednesday, 18h May, 2022.
  6. Subsequentiy, you are therefore directed to hand over all party properties and documents
    in your possession to Chief  Eponlolaye Olufemi within 48 hours on the receipt of this letter pending the conclusion of the on going investigation.
