EKITI 2022: FAYOSE’S MAN WITHDRAWS FROM PDP CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE

.ALLEGES INJUSTICE, IMPOSITION IN SENATORIAL PRIMARY

Former House of Representatives member for Ekiti North 1 Federal Constituency, Hon. Kehinde Agboola, has withdrawn his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Campaign Council in Ekiti State.

Agboola, a political disciple of Fayose, said he was withdrawing from the PDP Campaign Council over the dust raised by th conduct of the PDP senatorial primary in Ekiti North senatorial district.

The former Chairman of Ikole Local Government in a letter seen by our correspondent on Sunday claimed that no election was held for the PDP senatorial primary in Ekiti North “due to the shenanigans of one person and the refusal of the PDP to address all complaints arising therefrom.”

Agboola who was a contestant for the PDP senatorial ticket in Ekiti North alleged that injustice has forced many members to leave the party in protest against imposition, abuse of due process and malpractice.

According to him, he was withdrawing from the PDP Campaign pending the time when the party would do justice and right all the perceived wrongs.

A young philanthropist, Mr. Funso Ayeni, was declared the winner of the PDP primary for Ekiti North senatorial district.

Agboola said: “Sequel to the non conduct of the Senatorial Primary Election in Ekiti North Senatorial District due to the shenanigans of one person, and the refusal of the PDP leadership to address all the complaints arising thereof, as stated in my petition submitted to the party hierarchy and the yet to be located Appeal Panel despite all searches.

“I hereby write to formally disclaim and withdraw my name from the Ekiti State Gubernatorial Campaign Committee pending when the party will do the needful, to right all wrongs.

“Since we cannot build something on nothing, I cant be part of a structure built on injustice, inequity, abuse of due process and absolute malpractice.

“I also call on all lovers of democracy and party faithfuls to remain steadfast.

“Only the unpopular aspirant ran away from our primary election at an accredited INEC centre of Ido Ekiti, as against electoral guidelines and clear sections of the Electoral laws.

“Ekiti North rejects imposition and the will of our people shall surely come to pass.

“Injustice has sent many people away from this party and that must stop forthwith.”

Agboola served as Chairman of Ikole Local Government during the first tenure of Fayose and represented Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1 comprising Oye and Ikole Local Government Areas during Fayose’s tenure.
