The Presidential Candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar’s Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy, Demola Olarewaju has said democracy is not working in Nigeria because of the rigging of elections.
Demola said this recently on his X handle @DemolaRewaju while acknowledging former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s statement that Western democracy failed in Africa.
He said, “Democracy is not working because we’re rigging elections, and elected officeholders do not then feel accountable to serve the supposed voters.
Exploring the former President’s statement, he noted, “The very idea of “Afro-Democracy” is why someone feels an entitlement to power, rigs his way in and then becomes unaccountable.”
