COURT REMANDS MAN IN EKITI OVER ALLEGED RAPE, KIDNAP

Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court has ordered the remand of one Tolu Lawal (27) in correctional center over attempted kidnap and rape.

Earlier, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi told the court that the defendant was suspected to have committed the offences which are punishable under Sections 280 and 268 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor pointed out that a remand request was supported by a six-paragraph affidavit, the statements of the victim and the defendant.

He added that the duplicate case file had been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

The Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, ordered the remand of the defendant for one month and adjourned the case to December 24, 2023.
