Change of Name: India already global brand, says Sen. Sani

By Udesinanna Stephen

One time Senate Representative of Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has appealed to India to maintain its name as India, saying that India is already global.

Sen. Sani said this via his X handle @ShehuSani.

This is coming following a report that India Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration has replaced the name “India” with a Sanskrit word in dinner invitations sent to guests attending this week’s Group of 20 (G20) summit, triggering speculation that the name of the country will be officially changed. Droupadi Murmu is referred to as “President of Bharat” instead of “President of India” in the invitation sent to G20 attendees on Tuesday, Aljazeera reported.

Shehu said, “Dear Indians, please do not change the name of your country to Bharat. India is already a global Brand name and sweeter to pronounce.”

India is hosting the annual Group of 20 (G20) summit in New Delhi lately for regional handshake concerning socioeconomic influence and gain. Many world leaders, including Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, were present.
