Bad Roads: Popular Broadcaster Calls on FG to Intervene in Ekiti

By Precious Oham

A popular broadcaster, Bayo Famoroti, has appealed to the Federal Government to intervene in the deplorable conditions of roads in Ekiti State.

The broadcaster made the call following the bad state of roads linking the state with neighbouring states, which has made life difficult for commuters and residents.

According to him, the palpable situation has skyrocketed transport fare as motorists spend longer hours on the roads noting that it has also given room to kidnappers to unleash terror on unarmed citizens.

“The link to Akure from Ikere Ekiti is no longer motorable as motorists have to make a detour via Igede to Ilawe and Igbara Odo to Akure.

“Ilawe Ekiti has been cut off from Ado Ekiti, the state capital because the bridge linking them has collapsed which has become a harrowing experience for motorists to pass through Aramoko Ekiti to Ita Awure because of the deplorable state of the road.

“The situation has put the people of the state and travelers in a fix as transport fare has skyrocketed as a result the development which now make motorist to spend longer period on the road.

“The terrible state of the roads has made the people to be easy targets of kidnappers and terrorists. The Federal Government should come to the rescue of the state and its people by tackling the problem without delay.”
