In a thrilling 2-1 victory over Barcelona on Saturday, Atletico Madrid overcame a deficit to take the lead in La Liga. Diego Simeone’s team moved three points clear at the top of the table after playing one fewer game than Barcelona, thanks to goals from Rodrigo De Paul and Alexander Sorloth in the second half after Pedri had put the Catalans ahead.
Hansi Flick’s team dominated at the Olympic stadium, but Atletico managed to hang on and win in stoppage time thanks to a goal from Sorloth, giving them their 12th straight victory in all competitions.
