AI IS DANGEROUS TO HUMAN EXISTENCE, MUST BE RESTRICTED … CATHOLIC BISHOP

The Bishop of Ekiti Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Felix Ajakaye has advocated strict regulations on the use of Artificial Intelligence in a way that it will not affect the existence of human beings.

Most Reverend Ajakaye made the call during a thanksgiving Mass to commemorate the fifty eight World Communications Day held at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, old garage Ado-Ekiti.

Represented by the Vicar General of the Diocese, Reverend Father Felix Odesanmi, the Bishop explained that though, Artificial Intelligence has advantages, its negative effects were enormous, hence the use should be regulated.

The Bishop said the Advent of technology was fast taking over the position of human beings, thereby leading to, immorality, crime, unemployment among others.

Most Reverend Ajakaye however charged stakeholders, especially Journalists to sensitise people on the negative impact of the use of Artificial Intelligence.

In a remark, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Mr. Kayode Babatuyi urged media Professionals to make positive advantage of technological innovations in the discharge of their duties.
