Accident:Bring Your Vehicles for Digital Inspection, Ekiti VIO Boss Urges Motorists

Vehicle owners in Ekiti State have been advised to make their vehicles available for digital inspection for early detection of mechanical faults.

The Director, Vehicle Inspection Service, Ekiti state, Engineer Olawale Ayegbusi gave the advice in an interview with newsmen in Ado Ekiti.

Engineer Ayegbusi explained that the computerised vehicle inspection centre put up by the state government was meant to diagnose vehicles for early detection of mechanical issues that could cause accident.

“If you bring your vehicle here, you will be able to get all the information you need to know about your vehicle such as every information right from manufacturing date and its present condition.

He stressed the need for motorists to take advantage of the computerised vehicle inspection centre in Ado Ekiti, most especially as festive season approaches, in order to reduce road crashes,

“Most of the accidents that occur are due to mechanical faults which could have been attended to if detected early, that is why we are appealing to our people to make use of the opportunity”.

“Even if you want to buy a vehicle whether from dealer or mechanic, bring it here, to know the story of the vehicle, is it stolen, there is an auto viewing machine that can check the story of the vehicle”.

“Anyone bringing his or her vehicle for inspection should not have the premonition of whether it will pass the test or if it fails that such vehicle will be impounded, we are not withholding any vehicle, we will just help you to check your vehicle and it will be returned to you, with advice on what to do”.

The Ekiti State Director of Vehicle Inspection Service pointed out that having a road worthiness paper does not mean that one should not go for vehicle inspection.

“If you have a valid road worthiness from Ekiti state and you did not do the vehicle inspection, it is like you are carrying fake papers, if you go to another state, they will apprehend your vehicle because you did not have inspection result”.

Engineer Ayegbusi noted that the vehicle inspection is currently free of charge in Ekiti state, hence people must take advantage of the opportunity”.

He also advised those who want to obtain drivers’ licence to come for what is called DTT examination where they would be exposed to the meaning of the road signs to ensure safety of road users.

“That is why we are calling on people to get their papers both road worthiness and inspection result so that when our staff stop you on the road , you will have something to present”.
