Academic Technologists Lauds EKSU Management, Seek Reinstatement of Disengaged Members

…holds South-West Zonal Executive Council Meeting

The National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado-Ekiti Chapter has lauded the efforts of the Management of the institution for prioritising the welfare of its members.

The Union made this disclosure on Thursday 15th June, 2023 at EKSU Ado-Ekiti, during the NAAT South-West Zonal Executive Meeting, comprising of 17 Public Universities in the South Western States of the Nation.

The Chairman of NAAT EKSU Chapter, Comrade (Mrs) O. Mary Adeosun, said that the Management of the institution under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, has been in the vanguard of providing for the necessities of the members.

While appealing to the V.C to reinstate some disengaged staff who are passing through untold hardship, she noted that the Zonal council meeting is geared towards addressing issues of the Union in the zone.

She said: “It is an undeniable fact that the Comrade Vice-Chancellor has been in the vanguard of providing for the necessities of our members in all ramifications. Some of the recent welfare packages that NAAT EKSU have benefited from the Comrade Vice-Chancellor includes but not limited to;

“*Appointment of 12 Chief Technologists to Senior Chief Technologists.

  • Appointment of our members as Director, Directorate of ICT.
  • Appointment of NAAT member as Deputy Director; the University Central Laboratory.

*Provision of befitting accommodation as Secretariat for NAAT EKSU Chapter.

  • Provision of Personal Protective Equipment( PPE) for NAAT members and regular promotions of NAAT members.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the Comrade Vice-Chancellor to positively accede to our request on some of our disengaged staff that are yet to be reinstated.

“We cannot be totally happy seeing many of our comrades passing through untold hardship occasioned by their disengagement. I also want to remind the Comrade Vice-Chancellor of his promise to fast-track the 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 promotion exercises.

“This meeting is very strategic as it serves as the caucus meeting for the South-West NEC members where issues bordering our zone are discussed and addressed.”

Earlier, the Union comprising of the South-West NEC members paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor in his office, where they applauded him for the giant strides recorded towards the growth of the Union in the institution.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the South-West Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Olurinde Joseph said the essence of the visit is to appreciate the V.C while urging him to continue to prioritise the welfare of the members in the institution.

Responding, Prof. Olanipekun thanked NAAT for choosing the University for such an important event, while assuring them that Management will support them in areas deemed necessary.

Prof. Olanipekun said: “I thank you for choosing EKSU for this meeting. I want to assure you that whatever you come up with your strategies, where we are needed, we will do the needful.

“Management have a very cordial relationship with NAAT. I want to assure you that the symbiotic relationship will continue.”
