2023 Elections: FG records 3,834,244 Cyber Attacks

The Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, has revealed that during the Presidential and Gubernatorial elections a total of 3,834,244 cyber attacks were recorded, originating from both within and outside Nigeria.

This was made known today in a press statement obtained on the verified Twitter handle of the Ministry, @FMoDENigeria and signed by the Senior Technical Assistant to the Minister of Communication, Dr Femi Adeluyi.

The breakdown of the attacks is as follow: “Friday 17th March-2023: 1,046,896, Saturday 18th March- 2023: 1,481,847, Sunday 19th March- 2023: 327,718, Monday 20th March- 2023: 977,783.

According to the statement, the attacks include: “Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), email and Internet Protocol Spoofing (IPS) attacks, SSH Login Attempts, Brute force Injection attempts, Path Traversal, Detection Evasion, and Forceful Browsing.”
