As part of activities marking the Third Anniversary of the 7th Ekiti State House of Assembly, the lawmaker representing Ado Constituency I, Hon. Ayodeji Adegbite, has congratulated Master Qazeem Yusuf Oluwafemi on emerging as the winner of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Quiz Competition.
Master Qazeem emerged overall winner among twenty-six contestants representing constituencies across the state.
Speaking during the Special Plenary Session commemorating the Assembly’s anniversary, the Speaker of the 7th Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, described the quiz competition as an initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence and discovering young talents among secondary school students in Ekiti State.
According to the Speaker:
“In recognition of his outstanding performance in the Quiz Competition organized by the 7th Assembly to commemorate its Third Anniversary, I hereby invite Master Qazeem Oluwafemi, the overall winner, to preside over this plenary session as Speaker for ten minutes.”
In a historic moment, Master Qazeem presided over the Special Plenary Session for ten minutes, becoming the Assembly’s “One-Day Speaker.” While addressing the House, he expressed appreciation to the Speaker and members of the Assembly for the rare opportunity.
He described the experience as a dream come true and a privilege that enabled him to speak on behalf of the youths of Ekiti State.
Master Qazeem also thanked Hon. Ayodeji Adegbite for nominating him to represent Ado Constituency I in the competition. He noted that the victory deepened his appreciation for the commitment and contributions of the 7th Assembly to the development of Ekiti State.
In his remarks, Hon. Ayodeji Adegbite commended Master Qazeem for bringing pride and honour to Ado Constituency I through his exceptional performance.
“I am delighted by Master Qazeem’s achievement. Not only did he emerge as the overall winner of the competition, but he was also honoured with the privilege of presiding over the plenary session as Speaker for a day. This is truly commendable.”
“I celebrate Master Qazeem Yusuf Oluwafemi for making us proud and representing Ado Constituency I with distinction. I will continue to support and encourage him morally, physically, and academically.”
Hon. Adegbite also congratulated the young scholar’s parents and commended his teachers and school for nurturing his talents.
“I congratulate his parents for their dedication to his upbringing. I also appreciate his teachers and Government College, Ado-Ekiti, for guiding him to this level of excellence. As an old student of Government College, I am particularly proud of his achievement and pleased to see the school sustain its tradition of academic excellence. He is indeed a worthy ambassador of his family, school, and constituency,” he stated.
During his brief tenure as One-Day Speaker, Master Qazeem appealed to the Speaker and members of the House to remain accessible to the people, especially the youth, while working towards a brighter future for the next generation.
Master Qazeem Yusuf Oluwafemi, a fifteen-year-old student of Government College, Ado-Ekiti, hails from Ado-Ekiti. In addition to serving as One-Day Speaker, he received a cash prize of ₦200,000 and other gifts for his outstanding performance.
