…seeks Ekiti residents vote during June 20th election
The Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ambassador Dare Bejide, has intensified grassroots consultations across Ekiti State, taking his campaign to traditional institutions in Ogotun, Igbara-Odo, Ado-Ekiti, and his hometown, Ilawe-Ekiti.
Ambassador Bejide was received by large crowds of supporters in all the towns visited.
At the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe, his running mate, Chief Ayodeji Babatola, who is an indigene of the town solicited royal support for the ticket.
He said Babatola’s emergence as deputy governor would be significant for Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, which has yet to produce a governor.
On his own, Ambassador Dare Bejide pledged to attract industries to Ado-Ekiti, insisting the capital deserves the economic advantages and development seen in other state capitals nationwide.
Responding, Oba Adejugbe described Bejide as a reputable individual and attested to his character. The monarch, however, cautioned him and other contestants against inciting or provocative statements, urging him to ensure his supporters remain peaceful throughout the campaign.
In Ogotun-Ekiti, the ADC Governorship Candidate was received by the Ologotun, Oba Adebayo Adesanmi where the monarch prayed for him.
Speaking at the palace, Ambassador Bejide urged residents to reject vote buying and monetary inducements, stressing that the integrity of the electoral process must be preserved to secure a better future for the state.
He lamented lamented the hardship facing residents, saying, “The people are hungry, there is no electricity, and there are no jobs for our youths.” He promised to address the situation if given the mandate.
At Igbara-Odo, where he holds the title of Agbaakin, Ambassador Bejide reiterated his “Ekiti South Lokan” position, calling for fairness in the state’s political arrangement.
He assured the traditional ruler, Oba Edward Jayeola, of inclusive governance and acknowledged monarchs as custodians of the people. “I know royal fathers are not politicians, but they are the true leaders of our communities. My administration will work closely with them and ensure the people feel the impact of governance,” he said.
In Ilawe-Ekiti, his hometown, the ADC candidate was welcomed by the Alawe, Oba Adebanji Alabi and a jubilant crowd of supporters.
He restated his readiness to deliver purposeful leadership, describing himself as an experienced public servant capable of steering the state toward prosperity.
Ambassador Bejide assured the people of transparent governance and access to dividends of democracy if elected.
Bejide reaffirmed his commitment to addressing pressing socio-economic challenges confronting Ekiti communities, expressing confidence that his administration would bring meaningful development. The ADC campaign continues to gather momentum as he engages traditional institutions and residents in his bid for the party’s ticket.
Party stalwarts on the tour included former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Olusola Eleka; ADC South-West Chairman, Mr. Akinwale Omole; Ekiti State ADC Public Relations Officer, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan; and the party’s Woman Leader, Mrs. Modupe Awelewa, among others.
