NLC Vice Chair Oke Hails Gov Oyebanji’s Court Victory, Says Rule of Law Prevails

…describes Federal High Court judgment as affirmation of due process

The Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ekiti State Chapter, and former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Emmanuel Oke, has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his victory at the Federal High Court, Abuja, in the case instituted by female governorship aspirant, Abimbola Olajumoke.

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, Oke said the judgment was a clear affirmation of the rule of law and due process in Nigeria’s democratic practice.

“The Federal High Court’s decision in the matter brought by Abimbola Olajumoke has vindicated Governor Oyebanji and reinforced confidence in our judicial system,” Oke stated.

He described the ruling as a victory not just for the governor but for democracy and stability in Ekiti State, noting that it removes distractions ahead of the June 20 gubernatorial election.

“Governor Oyebanji has consistently demonstrated respect for institutions, labour, teachers and the people of Ekiti. This judgment allows him to remain focused on governance, project continuity, and workers’ welfare,” Oke said.

The astute teacher commended the governor for his open-door policy and commitment to prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and other entitlements, which he said had engendered industrial harmony in the state.

He urged all political actors to respect the outcome of the judicial process and work with the administration for the peace and progress of Ekiti.
