YSJ Limited has further demonstrated its commitment to agricultural development in Ekiti State with the presentation of three motorcycles to the Farm Settlement and Peasant Farmers Development Programme to ease field operations, improve mobility and enhance supervision across the state’s farm settlements.
The motorcycles were presented by the YSJ State Coordinator, Mr. Ajibade Adeleke, on behalf of the CEO/MD of the company. The intervention is part of YSJ’s continued partnership with the Ekiti State Government in agriculture, particularly in supporting youth participation and strengthening agricultural operations.
Speaking on behalf of YSJ management, Mr. Ajibade said the company was pleased to support the agency in performing its duties more efficiently. He reaffirmed YSJ’s commitment to working with the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to create better opportunities and make agricultural activities easier for young farmers in Ekiti State.
YSJ’s support for agriculture in Ekiti is not new. The company has participated in initiatives aimed at encouraging young people to embrace agriculture and strengthening agricultural production. Its support has also extended specifically to the farm settlements, including assistance towards the renovation of the Farm Settlement office.
The latest intervention is, therefore, another practical demonstration of YSJ’s sustained commitment to the farm settlement system. The motorcycles are expected to ease movement to various farm locations, improve field monitoring, facilitate farmland allocation and support other essential field operations.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Babatope Ojo, who was represented at the presentation, commended YSJ for its continued support to agriculture and its partnership with the state. He acknowledged the importance of private-sector participation in complementing government’s efforts to improve agricultural productivity and support farmers.
Also present was the General Manager, Farm Settlement and Peasant Farmers Development, Mr. Kolade Osundun, who represented the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Farm Settlement and Agriculture, Tope Adewole, while also attending in his capacity as General Manager. Members of the YSJ team and other stakeholders within the farm settlement administration were also present.
The Director of Farm Settlements, Mr. Leke Ajibade, has played a key role in sustaining the strong working relationship between the farm settlements and YSJ. His engagement with the organisation, alongside the efforts of the SSA on Farm Settlement and Agriculture and the General Manager, has helped strengthen collaboration and translate the relationship into practical support for the farm settlements.
The Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, appreciated YSJ for the intervention, noting that inadequate mobility had been a major challenge, particularly in carrying out field operations. He said the motorcycles would provide much-needed support for farm managers and other personnel working across the settlements.
The General Manager, Mr. Kolade Osundun, also expressed appreciation to YSJ, describing the intervention as a significant relief to the agency. He acknowledged the company’s continued responsiveness to the needs of the farm settlements and prayed for the continued success of YSJ.
Mr. Osundun further expressed the agency’s readiness to make available uncultivated portions of the farm settlements for productive agricultural activities by investors, beginning with the Erio Farm Centre, subject to the necessary arrangements. He also appealed for further support, particularly in the area of vehicular mobility, noting that the agency’s only Hilux vehicle is currently unserviceable.
At the conclusion of the presentation, Mr. Ajibade Adeleke formally handed over the keys to the three motorcycles to Mr. Osundun, who received them on behalf of the Farm Settlement and Peasant Farmers Development Programme.
In a subsequent telephone remark, the SSA on Farm Settlement and Agriculture, Adewole Temitope Matthew, commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s approach of encouraging partnerships between government and private investors, noting that the collaboration with YSJ had translated into tangible benefits for the farm settlements and the wider agricultural sector in Ekiti State.
He encouraged more investors to emulate YSJ by partnering with the government to support agriculture and create opportunities for farmers and young people. He also commended the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security for providing leadership in line with the agricultural vision of the Governor.
The intervention underscores the value of sustained government-private sector collaboration in addressing practical challenges in agriculture. It also reflects the strong relationship between YSJ and the farm settlement administration, which has continued to produce tangible support for agricultural operations.
The Farm Settlement and Peasant Farmers Development Programme appreciates the management and entire team of YSJ Limited for its continued partnership and commitment to agricultural development in Ekiti State.
