Protest Erupts at N’Assembly Over Natasha

On Tuesday, tension unfolded at the entrance of the National Assembly complex in Abuja when security personnel stopped suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central from entering. She arrived at the gate with a group that included activist Aisha Yesufu, rights advocate Mama P, activist Randy, and several supporters. The officers denied them access, leading to a confrontation. Aisha Yesufu challenged the directive, questioning, “National Assembly is meant to be for everyone. Why are you stopping us?” and added, “We are not abiding doesn’t mean we are cowards.”

The situation intensified as the crowd of supporters began chanting “Push!” and tried to advance through the blockade. Eventually, Natasha’s supporters were seen heading toward the complex while singing solidarity songs, creating a scene of defiance and protest outside the legislative grounds.
