...declares support for re-election bid of the Governor
The Chairman of Ekiti State Football Association, Olu Oloworemo has confirmed that Governor Biodun Oyebanji has invested so much towards the growth and development of sports in the state .
In a statement on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, the astute sports administrator confirmed that Ekiti has never had it so good like this since the creation of the state.
He therefore confirmed the backing of the association for the re-election of the Governor ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
According to him, the governor’s commitment in revamping the sports sector has enhanced sports and recreational activities to drive economic growth and create job opportunities for youths in the state.
The FA Chairman, who commended the governor’s vision for sports development, noted that these efforts will attract national and international sporting competitions to accelerate growth in Ekiti State.
Oloworemo, who noted that the governor has continued to prioritize the welfare of athletes and talent hunt at the grassroots level, called on residents of the state to support the governor’s second term bid for continuity in governance, particularly in the sports sector.
He said: “Since the assumption of the administration of Governor Oyebanji, the state has witnessed unprecedented developments in line with his six pillars mantra. He has leverage sports for job creation and economic empowerment.
“We can see the renovation works at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium and the ongoing construction of a state-of-the-art indoor sports hall. These are testaments to the fact that he is a sports-loving governor whose commitment has yielded positive results.
“The governor has continued to prioritize the welfare of the state-owned football teams including Ekiti United and Ekiti Queens through salary increments, better uniforms, travel allowances, and performance bonuses.
“I implore Ekiti people to stand behind the re-election of the governor for continuity in his vision to transform sports into a tool for youth empowerment, employment, and economic growth which has earned him the plaudits among his contemporaries in the country.”
