Otunba Olumuyiwa Babalola, a leading gubernatorial aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has responded to recent remarks dismissing ADC’s role in the upcoming 2026 Ekiti State elections.
Speaking through his campaign media office, Babalola emphasized that Ekiti people are tired of recycled governance between the two dominant parties and are rallying behind ADC as a credible alternative.
“The narrative that only APC and PDP are real contenders is outdated and disconnected from the realities on the ground. Ekiti people are embracing ADC because they want a new kind of politics – one rooted in accountability, inclusiveness, and solutions to everyday problems,” Babalola stated.
Babalola, who is a diplomat, underscored three key points shaping the 2026 election:
Defections Strengthening ADC: Prominent figures from PDP, APC, and other platforms have joined ADC in recent months, bringing grassroots structures across all 16 LGAs into the fold.
People-Focused Agenda: ADC’s campaign is centered on addressing unemployment, reviving education, improving healthcare, and building infrastructure that directly benefits citizens.
Youth and Women Inclusion: Babalola noted that first-time voters, women, and community leaders are finding their voice in ADC, creating a broad coalition for change.
“This election is not about personalities or recycled party platforms. It is about the future of Ekiti State. Our people are intelligent, resilient, and ready for genuine leadership. ADC is not a contraption; it is a people-driven movement built to deliver lasting progress for our state,” Babalola added.
The ADC reaffirmed its readiness to contest vigorously in 2026 and will continue unveiling its grassroots programs, policy commitments, and campaign structures in the months ahead.
