NPC Takes 2025/26 Mini Health Survey Advocacy to Iyin Ekiti

The National Population Commission (NPC), Ekiti State, has carried out an advocacy visit to Iyin Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area as part of preparations for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Mini Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS).

The visit targeted key stakeholders and residents of Iyin Ekiti cluster, one of the selected locations for the nationwide survey, with the aim of securing community cooperation and smooth conduct of the exercise.

Leading the delegation, the Ekiti State Director of the NPC, Mr. Olayomi Gbenga Abayomi, described the survey as critical to national development, noting that reliable data remained essential for effective health planning and decision-making.

Mr. Abayomi, who was accompanied by members of the Commission’s management team and Public Affairs Department staff, urged community leaders to mobilise residents and support field officers during the survey period.

The NDHS Supervisor, Mrs. Falope Titilayo, explained that the survey would capture key health indicators such as fertility, family planning, sexual and reproductive health, and other issues affecting the wellbeing of Nigerians.

She stressed that the data generated would help improve healthcare services and policies, adding that accurate health information was necessary for improving the quality of life of the people.

As part of the advocacy activities, the NPC delegation paid courtesy visits to traditional institutions in Iyin Ekiti to further strengthen community trust and participation in the survey.

The Odofinyin of Iyin Ekiti commended the Commission’s commitment to credible data generation, while the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti received the team warmly and offered prayers for the successful conduct of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Mini Demographic and Health Survey.
