The Ifedayo Society Group, Iworoko-Ekiti, has appealed to Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, to retain the Chairman of Ifedara Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ogunsanya Lawrence Sunday, citing his record of good governance and impactful grassroots development.
The appeal was made on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the society to the office of the LCDA Chairman in Igbemo-Ekiti. Speaking on behalf of the group, the Society’s Chairman, Engineer Fatayo Tajudeen Olayinka, said the visit became necessary in view of the numerous laudable projects executed by Hon. Ogunsanya across the six communities that make up the LCDA.
Engineer Olayinka noted that as a member of the Ifedayo Society, Hon. Ogunsanya has brought honour to Iworoko-Ekiti and the association through his exemplary leadership, describing him as a worthy ambassador who deserves commendation and another opportunity to serve.
“The Ifedayo Society is proudly presenting you to the world and celebrating a good son of the soil for the numerous achievements recorded under your leadership. We are also using this opportunity to appeal to Governor Oyebanji to give our member, who has equally been a good ambassador of this administration, another chance to serve in this capacity,” he said.
He also used the occasion to call on the state government to upgrade the Iworoko General Hospital with better medical equipment, construct more boreholes, extend electricity to underserved communities, and provide additional waste bins to address indiscriminate refuse dumping in Iworoko-Ekiti.
In their separate remarks, the Secretary of the Society, Mr. Fatoye Tayo, and Mrs. Aluko Omolara, commended the Directors and staff of the LCDA for their continued support for the chairman. They also pledged the society’s commitment to working assiduously for the re-election of Governor Oyebanji at the polls.
Responding, the Chairman of Ifedara LCDA, Hon. Ogunsanya Lawrence Sunday, expressed appreciation for the visit and thanked the society and the community for the confidence reposed in his leadership.
“Although this visit was unexpected, I am delighted to receive members of my society. I belong to all the six communities that make up Ifedara LCDA, and we remain committed to the vision of His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to deliver the dividends of democracy at the grassroots,” he said.
Hon. Ogunsanya highlighted key projects already executed under his administration, including the provision of pipe-borne water, relocation of the Iworoko market, electrification of some communities, and repairs of vandalised transformers.
He explained that the relocation of the Iworoko market was carried out on the directive of the governor after consultations with the Regent of Iworoko, following an unfortunate accident. He added that plans are underway for the establishment of a Shasha market, noting that work would commence once land allocation is approved, as provisions have already been made in the budget. He also assured residents that more boreholes would be drilled across the LCDA.
The LCDA chairman further appealed to residents to continue to live in peace and harmony, assuring them that additional waste bins would soon be provided to curb indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Iworoko-Ekiti.
The meeting was attended by the Special Local Adviser (SLA), Directors, and other members of staff of the Ifedara Local Council Development Area.
