…adminsitered oath on new intakes

The Matriculation ceremony started with the  procession of students and management staff into the sport complex venue of the programme just as the oath of matriculation was administered on the students by the registrar of the Polytechnic, Dr. Ekhanem

Addressing the students, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Temitope Alake restated the commitment of the Polytechnic to moral and academic excellence, adding that his administration would not give room for any action that could tarnish the hard earn reputation of the institution.

According to the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti is one of the highly sought after institution annually, saying over twelve thousand students applied for the ongoing academic session but only few were chosen in strict adherence to government policies.

He said:”Despite the increasing number of Tertiary Institutions across the country and in our immediate environment, It is a fact that The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti is a highly sought after and one of the most desirable Institutions which candidates seeking admition into Nigerian Polytechnics always target for optimum training, mentoring and certifications.

“This is apparently due to the national recognition of our high academic standards, our peaceful co-existence, relatively stable academic calendar, as well as the prime attention paid to students’ welfare.

“I am also delighted to inform you all that one of our giant strides is the wide range of accredited programmes by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) at both the ND and HND levels. As I speak to you, the Institution runs a total of thirty-five (35) accredited courses across the various Schools (Faculties).

“We are poised to push for the accreditation of more programmes by the grace of God. You will all agree with me therefore that this Institution is quite synonymous with high standards and focus for the best

The Rector appealed to the students to be law abiding and desist from bad groups which could lure them into social vices that may ruin their academic career.

He also warned against damages of the school infrastructure or reconnection and partitioning saying any student caught is such unlawful act would be arrested and prosecuted.

“While the Polytechnic prides itself in the efficiency and effectiveness of its manpower, especially in the delivery of lecturers, you also need to prepare yourself to be impacted with requisite knowledge and skills by the lecturers. This is because having well prepared lecturers is not a yardstick for success if you do not make yourself available for lectures and other relevant success-driven endeavours within and outside the Polytechnic.

“Let me also counsel you to always remember that the distance between today’s matriculation and convocation ceremony is quite long and it is important that the journey ends successfully. To end well, it is essential that you see your matriculation today both as a unique opportunity to aim for and attain higher academic heights and equip yourself for the best.

Dr. Alake urged the students to familiarize themselves with Information Communication Technology.

“Following global adoption of ICT, the Polytechnic has bluntly refused to be left out in its prevailing waves especially the positive aspect of the usage and we are poised to train our students to align with its reality so that their professional relevance will not be threatened hereafter.

“This Institution, in its drive to producing ICT-compliant graduates, has made provisions for certification training programmes in various areas of specialization, through the AdoPoly Ventures Limited, the business arm of the Polytechnic. A robust internet facility has also been put in place within the Polytechnic Community.

“You must therefore do everything within your capacity to positively explore these provisions in order to ensure your relevance in this age of global technology.
