A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Bamisile, has lauded the cluster farming initiative of the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, saying the measure will help in stamping out hunger and starvation from the state.

This commendation came as the House of Representatives member, representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency 2, distributed 1,500 of bags to his constituents in Emure/Ekiti East/Gbonyin Federal Constituency of Ekiti State in celebration of the Christmas festivity.

As part of the ways to reduce hunger in the system, the lawmaker’s wife, Mrs Jaiyeola Bamisile, also distributed food palliatives to elderly above 65 years old across the federal constituency, saying banishing hunger out of the state requires collective efforts.

Speaking while distributing the rice palliative, on Wednesday, Bamisile posited that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is returning the country to the path of food security, by giving the Nigerian Army the required impetus to decimate the insurgents and bandits causing terror attacks in the Northern part of the country.

Specifically, Bamisile lauded the cluster farming being encouraged in Ekiti, where over 940 youth farmers are engaging in commercial farming, saying the two efforts will bring a slump to the astronomic increase in prices of food commodities in 2025.

Bamisile, who called for continued support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, promised to sustain the tempo of effective representation for his constituents, so that the deserved democratic dividends can get to the masses.

The lawmaker assured that no effort will be spared to back the anti-poverty policies of the state government, by attracting federal presence to Ekiti in terms of project execution, and by helping the populace with food items and cash to overcome the menace of hunger.

“I commend President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji for making efforts to promote the concept of food security. Nigerians should commend Mr President for the fight against insecurity in the North. If you check properly, killings and kidnappings have reduced in the North.

“Also in Ekiti, the cluster farming at Oke Ako, Gede, Temidire and other locations across the three senatorial districts is gradually restoring food security in our dear state.

“Youths have taken over farming using different modern mechanisms and I am confident that 2025 will be a different year for Nigerians by way of availability of food and better economic prosperity”, Bamisile stated.

Also, the lawmaker’s wife, Jaiyeola, who spoke while distributing food palliatives and cash gifts to some aged women in the federal constituency, said she took the actions to complement her husband in alleviating hunger among the masses.

Mrs Bamisile saluted Governor Oyebanji for scaling up action against poverty, gender based violence, unemployment, crimes and other social ills to make Ekiti a model among the comity of states.

“What I am doing is to show that we value our people. We must show love to the needy at this critical time when hunger was high in the land. Though, I commend Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji for their efforts to banish poverty and hunger out of the land.

“Let me assure you that my family will continue to give you support. You have worked hard to raise your children and this is the time for you to enjoy through support from well- meaning members of the society to upscale what the government is doing to reduce poverty in Ekiti.

“I appeal to you, continue to spread the gospel of good governance being initiated in Ekiti State by His Excellency, Biodun Oyebanji and other leaders within the All Progressives Congress fold”, Mrs Bamisile advised.
