WINDSTORM, FLOOD RENDER MANY HOMELESS IN EKITI

…victims seek government’s assistance

Downpour has rendered many people homeless in Ado Ekiti the State Capital.

Among the areas mostly affected are Ijadu, Adebayo, Adehun, Olorunda and Olorunsogo communty of Ado Ekiti.

Our correspondent who went to the communities reports that, houses,  roofing, fences and electricity poles were pulled down during the downpour which lasted for almost one hour.

One of victims, Mr Johnson Adeola of Ijadu Ado Ekiti whose house was pulled down completely by the downpour appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji to come to his aid, saying there was no place to keep his family.

Also, another  resident of Olorunsogo Zone thirteen, Ado Ekiti,  Mrs Bukola Ajisafe called on the state government to help to dredge the river in the area to give room for free flow of water.

She explained that the area was flooded during the rain therefore preventing residents to gain access to their homes and urged the state  government to help in constructing the bridge that link the community with others.
