Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria Ekiti State Chapter has described the death of the speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.. Funminiyi Afuye as a colossal loss to the state particularly the legislative arm.
In a statement in Ado Ekiti, Chairman of the association, Comrade Gbenga Oluwajuyigbe and the Secretary Com Adeyemo Aderemi said the death came as rude shock to the entire parliamentary workers especially when the state is still celebrating the inauguration of the new administration.
The PASAN leadership commiserated with the state government, residents of ikere Ekiti and family of the late speaker with a prayer to God to comfort them.
According to the union, late Afuye was a patriotic lawmaker, an administrator and man of integrity who used his life time to contribute to the development of Ekiti State.
The statementreads:”the news of the speaker was very unfortunate, no one could imagined that the late speaker who was full of life and energy on Tuesday when he went out with the Governor could die so soon.
He is a very humble, simple and unassuming man, he was a father to us, he died at a time his service is most needed particularly his wealth of experience and guidance for the new government.
Comrade Gbenga Oluwajuyigbe and Com Adeyemo Aderemi prayed God to grant the family of the late speaker the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
