TRADERS ESCAPE DEATH AS TRUCK LOST CONTROL IN ADO EKITI

A truck coming from Benue State with loads of charcoals, heading to Lagos on Tuesday crashed into a ditch after sloping backwards at Oke Ori Omi, Old Governor’s Office Area of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The driver of the truck was said to have lost control of the vehicle after it was unable to ascend the sloppy road, perhaps due to the weight of the load carried.

According to witnesses, the vehicle which rolled backwards got stuck at the ditch very close to where some traders often display their goods.

Report has it that, the traders and others in the area had noticed that the vehicle was struggling to ascend hence they were prepared for the eventuality and such made them escaped been crushed by the vehicle.

In an interview, a staff of the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency, who only gave his name as Mr Dare said the agency was trying its best to toll out the fallen truck from the ditch but the loads in the truck weighs about 45tons, which is almost the same weight as the agency’s truck brought to the scene to toll the truck.

Mr Dare said he had instructed the driver to hire another truck to offload the charcoals in order to make their job easier.

He noted that no casualty was recorded and assured that the agency would do its best to get the truck out of the pit at the soonest.
