On Thursday, the who-is-who in Nigeria politics will gather at the BOS Hall of Lagos Television, Agidingbi, Ikeja to witness the launch and presentation of a book, Nigeria & Democratic Governance: The Seats, The Battles & The Prospects.
The All Progressive Congress Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Almed Tinubu, is expected to chair the occasion. This is, in addition to the fact that he has already identified with the issues raised in the book by writing its foreword.
The book, which is written by Mr. Adesina Adetola, a multi-talented writer, public commentator, good governance advocate and socioeconomic development strategist is an assemblage of selected issues that interrogate Nigeria’s electoral process in the first 20 years of the nation’s current democratic dispensation.
The compendium, according to a foreword by Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu,, is a dispassionate factual account of events and their outcomes presented in lucid language, from an objective point of view, and in a comprehensive narrative manner. He said; these attributes make the book an invaluable resource material to political office-holders, lawmakers, judicial officers, constitutional lawyers and all lovers of democracy in Nigeria.
The Chief Executive Officer of OpenWay Global Concept, Mr. Adetola, who also doubles as the author of the compelling factual narration, said the book was timely, especially coming on the heels of electioneering campaigns to usher in a new dispensation at the helm of affairs of our nation, coming up in 2023.
While sharing his view on his motivation for the book in a Press Statement he personally signed and made available to journalists in Lagos, on Wednesday, Mr. Adetola said that it is high time we understood that political office is not a do or die affair and electoral process is not a battleground. .
Speaking further Adetola stated that given the scepticism about the political process, there was the need to interrogate our democratic events with a view to channelling a good course for a better Nigeria where governance would be made to serve the exclusive interest of the people rather than the tiny minority.
He said the ideal of democratic principle anchored on the rule of law would not be made manifest in our nation except the people are kept abreast of the pitfalls of the past with a view to correcting them.
Political actors expected at the events include, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu who is to serve as the chief host, Asiwaju Almed Tinubu, who will preside over the book launch as chairman, his Vice Presidential candidate, Senator, Kashim Shettima, as the Chief Guest of Honour, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the executive governor of Kano State, as the chief presenter and veteran journalist, Mr. Dare Babarinsa, acting as the reviewer.
