Pharmacist Adedayo Oluwasanmi, son of a former Chairman of the Ekiti Council of Elders and a renowned Professor of Plastic Surgery, late Professor Joseph Oluwasanmi, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Ekiti State.

His declaration, which took place in Ward 2 of the APC in Gbonyin Local Government Area, attracted a massive crowd from within and outside the community.

Receiving the new member, the APC Chairman of Ekiti East Local Government, Adebayo Akinyeye, described Adedayo as a committed humanitarian, noting that the pharmacist through his foundation, ‘Adedayo Oluwasanmi Foundation’, had already impacted every nook and cranny of the local government before he signified intention to join politics.

Speaking with journalists, Adedayo, who is also the son of former Permanent Secretary in Ekiti State, Pharmacist Ajoke Oluwasanmi, said his decision to join the ruling party was influenced by the progressive policies of President Bola Tinubu and the impressive achievements of Governor Biodun Oyebanji across various sectors in Ekiti State.

He emphasized that the state had not witnessed such significant progress before the current political dispensation, which according to him, lays a solid foundation for further development.

Adedayo further stated that his philanthropic initiatives through his foundation were aimed at complementing Governor Oyebanji’s efforts in health, education, agriculture, and other sectors.

“The progressiveness of the party is very evident—not just in words but in actions, as seen in the policies of the president.

“Although some economic policies may be painful but as an entrepreneur and business-minded individual, I understand they are designed to lead us out of economic challenges.

“Similarly, Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s initiatives, including empowerment programs and infrastructural development undertaken by him and his wife, stand as exemplary efforts.

“I see a government that genuinely cares about its people and is working towards a better future for Nigeria. That is why I believe in this administration and have decided to align with its transformation agenda,” he added.

The Olode of Ode-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Adara Aderiye, charged Adedayo to be wary and not lean on the back of corrupt politicians and always prioritize the welfare of party members.

A key highlight of the event was the empowerment of 18 youths in agricultural ventures, a move aimed at promoting self-reliance and boosting food security in the state.

In a similar development, Adedayo also donated food items to about 150 elderly individuals and widows at his empowerment programme in the palace of the Olomuo of Omuo-Ekiti, Oba Adejuwon Omonigbehin.

Speaking on the donation, he explained that the initiative was one of the strategies his foundation had put in place to support vulnerable individuals in adapting to the current economic realities.

In his remarks, the Olomuo of Omuo-Ekiti, Oba Adejuwon Omonigbehin, commended Adedayo for his generosity and prayed for his continued success.

The immediate past Head of Service in Ekiti State, Sunday Akomolafe, lauded the pharmacist’s philanthropic efforts, urging others to follow suit rather than relying solely on the government for social interventions.
