The Ekiti State Government has assured Mrs Queen Ajayi who gave birth to her baby on the roadside in Ekiti State while trying to locate a health facility to deliver her baby of payment of her medical bills.
The Honourable Commissioner for Health and Human Services in Ekiti State Dr Oyebanji Filani made this known during his visit to General Hospital Ijesa Isu Ekiti where the said woman and her newly born baby were receiving treatment on the bill of the State Government.
Dr Filani assured the patient and her baby that all necessary care would be given to them in and out of the hospital. He noted that the state is committed to saving lives and ensuring quality healthcare service delivery to all residents of the State.
Dr. Filani encouraged the patients to key into the State’s Ulerawa health insurance intervention programme which he hinted was designed by Ekiti State Government to take care of this category of pregnant women and children under five years of age.
He urged all health seeking Ekiti residents to visit various public health facilities across the state adding that Government hospitals in the state are now well equipped with relevant qualified staff and state of the art Modern medical equipment.
The Commissioner commended the health workers who took delivery of her led by Nurse Blessing Oladipupo for rising to the occasion and rescue Mrs Ajayi and her baby by perfectly taking delivery of her while in labour on the roadside as well as ensuring that she delivers safely with her baby in good and stable condition .
While responding, Mrs Ajayi who expressed great joy on t he Commissioner’s visit , appreciated Ekiti State Government and the Health Commissioner for the kind gesture and the assistance rendered to her family.
Mrs Ajayi disclosed that she couldn’t afford to register for her Antenatal during her pregnancy because of her poor economic condition which resulted in her being unable to know her Expected Day of Delivery (EED).
She prayed for successful end of tenure for Governor Kayode Fayemi led Administration in the State.
