Reno Omokri Urges NBC to Inculcate Nigerian Accent In TV Presentation

By Akubulu Ngozi

Nigeria Author and Social Media Influencer, Reno Omokri has urged the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, to inculcate policies that will represent the Nigerian Accent in Television Presenters.

Reno made this comment through his Official Twitter Account @renoomokri today while stating the essence of recruiting presenters with the Nigerian Accent.

According to him, the foreign impersonating accent in the Nigerian Broadcast Industry does not represent the Nigerian Language and the continual practice will only insight inferiority complex amongst those lacking such skill.

He said, “The National Broadcasting Commission should consider introducing policies banning TV stations from fielding presenters with fake or real foreign accents. This is Nigeria, If you must be on Nigerian TV, then you should have a Nigerian accent or at least try to speak like a Nigerian.

“What we are subliminally communicating to Nigerians is that the Nigerian Accent is not good enough and that for you to be seen as on point, you must reject your Nigerian-ness and pretend to be what you are not.

“We are causing deep-seated inferiority complexes in our people when our TV stations hire people who either speak through their noses or start murdering the letter R in their falsettos.” He added.
