Commercial banks in Ekiti State have started dispensing the old naira notes to customers following the decision of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to flood commercial banks with old naira notes.

Speaking with bank customers in Ado-Ekiti, on Friday, the banks are dispensing 10,000 only while others are dispensing 5,000 as long queues still persists at the various banks in the metropolis.

A trader Seun Babalola, at First Bank ATM in Okeyimini axis said they can only withdraw N10,000.

“Banks still control how much we withdraw, see the crowd the money is not enough.” He lamented

Another individual at the queue, Bisola Shehu said the old notes is issued at the ATM but the demand is still above the available controlled cash.

Meanwhile, Polaris bank is issuing N5,000 only, as confirmed by one James Segun at the bank ATM queue. “They are giving us only 5,000 naira which is very poor.”

Roundoffnews gathered that the variety in the disbursements of cash by banks is connected to the particular amount that banks are subjected to receive from the CBN and the population of their customers.
