Former Commissioner for Works and Transportation and a frontline member of the People’s Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Mrs Ogun Funmilayo Theresa (OFT) has rejoiced with Ekiti citizens on the occasion of the New Year Celebration, urging them to keep having hope in the project Nigeria.
Ogun said Ekiti citizens shouldn’t be hopeless over the Nigeria’s recurrent issues of poor economy, persistent insecurity and increasing poverty level, making lives depressing for Nigerians.
The PDP chieftain, in a statement she personally signed on sunday, says Nigerians must pray fervently as they enter the new year for full liberation from bad governance that is gradually finding roots in Nigeria.
The situation of the country, according to Ogun, calls for prayer and joint actions to make Nigeria a nation that can enjoy economic prosperity, become poverty-free and where jobs can be readily available for the teeming youths.
Expressing opinion over the recent massacre in Plateau State, Ogun described such killings as a signal that Nigeria was gradually sliding into anarchy and require men of good conscience to bring it back from this free fall into a failed state.
Congratulating the citizens for witnessing the New Year, Ogun said they should be hopeful that God will bring up leaders that will take charge of the nation and lead the people better than what they currently getting.
Let me on behalf of my family congratulate all Ekiti citizens irrespective of political affiliations and religious inclinations on the occasion of the New Year.
It is my fervent belief that it was the grace of God that makes all of us to witness this day. I know that things are not the way we dreamt it should be concerning the affairs of this nation, but let us be hopeful . Don’t be dejected nor get distraught over the current distortions in the system.
As we go into the new year, let us all imbibe attitudinal change and seek for restitution for our prayers over this nation to be answered, so that Nigeria won’t become a failed state.
Particularly, I congratulate the members of the PDP and the major opposition party in our dear state and assure them that we are bringing a rebirth that will make the party strong enough to win the next governorship election.
Once again, accept my heartfelt congratulations as we celebrate the New Year Day.
