Police Arraign Five For Allegedly Stealing Government Property in Ekiti

Ekiti State Police Command on Wednesday arraigned five men before the Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti for alleged theft of construction materials in the State.

The defendants, Bamidele Solomon, Folorunsho Dada, Sunday Idowu, Olaniyi Opeyemi and Olaniyi Bamidele were brought before Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun.

The defendants were arraigned on three counts of conspiracy to steal granite being the property of Ekiti State government valued at N472,500.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The police prosecutor, Mr Akinwale Oriyomi told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offences on 5th August, 2024.

The prosecutor thereafter asked for a trial date following their not-guilty plea.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged offences violate sections 421, 302 (1) (A) and 343 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The Magistrate however granted bail of N200,000 with two surety each while the case was adjourned until September 6th for the commencement of trial.
