Petrol Prices Across States Varies, Says NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that the national average retail price of petrol rose by 28.35% year-on-year to N770.54 per liter in July 2024 from N600.35 per liter in the same period of 2023.

This was disclosed at the NBS Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch for July 2024.

The body revealed the state-by-state analysis significant variations in petrol prices.

‘Katsina State recorded the highest average retail price at N950.00 per liter, followed by Jigawa State at N903.08 and Benue State at N846.95.

“The lowest average prices were found in Kwara State (N650.00), Edo State (N669.75), and Akwa Ibom State (N673.75).

“Petrol prices increase by 2.72 percent from N750.17 in June 2024 on a month-on-month basis.

“The South-South Zone reported the lowest average price, at N678.30 per liter and the North-West Zone had the highest average petrol price, at N820.10 per liter.”
