…says Fayose must comply with Party’s ethics
A renowned politician who has served in different capacities in Ekiti State, Hon. Segun Akinwumi has said the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will win the governorship election of 2026 if he’s elected as the state’s party chairman.
Akinwumi who stated this on Tuesday during a Press Conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat, Old-Governor’s office, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital promised to bring his experience, connections and goodwill to bear if elected.
He described himself as the ‘preferred candidate’ among other contestants, who can help the party retrieve its lost glory in the state.
According to Akinwumi, necessary ideas and initiatives will be introduced to reconcile aggrieved members and restore the confidence of the people in PDP.
“I don’t know who is contesting against me. You can go and contest for House of Representatives, Senate but this is an elder’s position, leave it to me.
“This will actually be figured out in few months time during our congress in the state.
“I am the preferred person, I have worked so hard in the party and today will mark one year and two months that I have declared my intention to become the chairman of the party in Ekiti state.
“When I become the chairman of the party, I will lead my members to Governor Oyebanji’s office, shake his hand and tell him that PDP is coming back to the Government House by 2026”.
Speaking on the anti-party activism of former governor Ayodele Fayose, Akinwumi said he would extend a hand of friendship and bring him back to the party if he would fully abide by its ethics and rules.
“Former Governor Ayodele Fayose has option to go to anywhere he want, he has served for 8 years and lost nothing.
“But if he wants to provide anyone for position in a party that I’m the chairman, he must comply fully with the ethics and kernels of the party”. He said
