Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC, clashed in Port Harcourt today leaving one person injured by a stray bullet
The APC, led by its governorship candidate, Tonye Cole, had last Friday said he would be at the INEC office on Monday to demand the release of copies of documents used for the the States gubernatorial election so that the party can file processes at the election petition tribunal.
Following this, members of the PDP protested before the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, along Aba Road in Port Harcourt in demands for a joint inspection of election materials by all political parties.
Roundoffnews gathered that, when Cole and other the state APC Chairman, Emeka Beke, and other party leaders arrived at INEC office to demand for the election documents the protesters suspected to be the PDP side threw stones and water to them.
Not long soldiers of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, operatives of the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps arrived and shot into the air to scare off the protesters.
As at the time of filling in this report, Roundoff news is yet to ascertain which force made the shoot that injured one of the protester.
