Palpable hardship: Development Expert pleads with wealthy Nigerians to assist less-privileged

…garlands Nigerian philanthropists, patriots

A Development Expert and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GLobal Initiative for Nigeria Development (GIND), Engr. Micheal Ale, has pleaded with wealthy Nigerians to raise hope and succour for teeming Nigerians who are living in penury.

In a press statement made available to newsmen on Monday, Engr. Ale said he is emotionally touched by the fact that many Nigerians are faced with very difficult situations while very few rich and wealthy ones live in great comfort.

According to him, the population of Nigerians feeling the harsh realities of fuel subsidy removal and other yet-to be addressed issues plaguing the nation, surpasses the number of very few rich and wealthy citizens.

He revealed that his organisation, GIND, plans to celebrate outstanding Nigerian philanthropists and patriots with garlands in other to encourage and recognize them for their great deeds to humanity.

He added that very few wealthy Nigerians recognize this disturbing situation and come to the aide of the poor. However, he singled out General T.Y Danjuma (rtd) as an exceptional Nigerian who uses his wealth to make life better for the less privileged. He therefore encouraged other wealthy Nigerians to emulate him.

His words: “It is worthy of note that many Nigerians are faced with great challenge on account of the current policies of the Nigeria Government which have however, been made in preparation for a better future of the country.

“This is why many responsible leaders should not keep quiet in this trying time. They should rise to the occasion and support the poor and vulnerable in our society. This gesture shall go a long way in reducing incidents of frustrations, crimes and suicide attempts which have become palpable in our society today.”

While disclosing that some wealthy and concerned Nigerians have already taken up the challenge of assuring the poor, he said such kindhearted and privileged Nigerians deserve to be celebrated and honoured.

He justified the garlands for the philanthropists and patriots saying: “In appreciation and recognition of Nigeria’s brightest and finest who have the milk of human kindness and are committed and dedicated to helping the poor such as General TY Danjuma, who was recently honoured by the International Human Right Commission, (IHRC), GIND tasks other well meaning individuals to rise up to the humanitarian challenge of providing succour for the needy in our society.

“General TY. Danjuma is leaving behind remarkable achievement through many of his humanitarian initiatives among which are TY Danjuma Foundation and Victim Support Fund. (VSF)

“GIND, in collaboration with other partners will organize the first ever National Humanitarian and Livelihood Conference where many notable Nigerians will be honored at our maiden edition of a programme we have tagged: Courageous Nigerian Livelihood Program (CNL Program )

“Moreso, initiatives which had impact on the life of Nigerians and individual that had expressed optimism in the face of dark times will also be honored. Nigeria is a great country where good leadership can take us to an enviable height.” Ale advised
