The crisis between the groups were laid to rest after series of reconciliatory meetings, presided over by Mrs. Mary Oso-Omotosho, the Director-General, Office of Community Communications.
The last of the meetings which finally brought everyone together was held on Tuesday 27th February 2024 in her office at Lady Jibowu, Government House.
Present at the meeting were Hon. Israel Adesokan, SSA Traffic Management, Hon. Lanre Fasuan, Hon. Lawal Moshood Adegoke, SSA Grassroots Communications (North), SA Town Unions and Associations, Hon. Andero, Hon.Toyin Tuase Florence, SA Governor’s Office, leadership of Private Sector, Artisans and NATA as represented by their Chairmen and two exco members each.
It would be recalled that under Governor Oyebanji, the informal sector has received unprecedented support, partnership and high patronage. Aside the fact that the sector has three of their members in its government as appointees, every association in the sector receives government patronage.
For instance, NATA has been assigned all damaged government vehicles in MDAs for repairs. Ekiti Motor Dealers Association suppliers official vehicles. Bricklayer Association handles some special projects, Welders Association produced bunks for hostels in government special schools, and so on.
The 12 billion naira relief package recently announced by Mr Governor also considered the informal sector. The reconciliation was necessary so as to ensure that no one is left behind in the promotion of shared prosperity mantra of Governor Oyebanji’s administration.
