…as Gov honors him with N300 million electrification project in Ekiti East communities
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji on Friday led other dignitaries including the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, members of House of Representatives, top judicial officers and top government functionaries to pay last respect to the late Chief Judge of the State, Hon Justice Oyewole Adeyeye as his remains were interred at his country home at Araromi Ugbesi.
Speaking at the burial service, held at the Christ Apostolic Church, Chapel of Peace, Araromi Ugbesi, Governor Oyebanji, who described the late Chief Judge as a lover of God and his people, announced the approval of the sum N300 million to purchase transformers in the various communities unable to connect to electricity in Ekiti East local government areas, which according to the Governor, was Justice Adeyeye’s last request.
The Governor said the project was not only a reflection of Justice Adeyeye’s commitment to service and community development, but a way to perpetuate his legacy in Ekiti East local government and beyond.
The Governor maintained that the late jurist was a distinguished legal luminary whose contributions and influence in the judiciary and development of the state were invaluable.
While assuring the family that the state government will continue to support them, Governor Oyebanji urged them to be consoled and take pride in the impactful and purposeful life of the deceased.
“I just have a word of encouragement for mummy. we are not happy with what happened but God is still God, I know you are a Christian and the departed CJ was a lover of God and I can attest to that so while we mourn, lets not mourn in a way and manner that we will not sin against God.
“When I was coming here today and I saw light in some of our communities, I remembered what he told me when I became Governor. He said I’m not a politician but I listened to your campaign promises, you said you are going to connect Ekiti East and Gbonyin to electricity, I came to remind you, and within one year we got it done”
“He came back to say thank you but its not done completely, there are some communities whose transformers are not good and he gave me the list, and by the time he passed, we have not been able to do it because of resources. So, when I knew I will be coming here today, I called the man in charge of electricity that look go and get me the list of those communities and he brought it to my office yesterday. It is going to cost us 300 million and I have approved it just to honour our departed Chief Judge. And that speaks to the kind of husband God gave you”, the Governor asserted
In his homily, the Regional Secretary of Christ Apostolic Church in Ekiti State, Pastor Agunloye Sola, who hailed the late Justice Adeyeye’s values of compassion, selflessness and commitment to the progress of God’s work, described the deceased’s life as a reminder that a life lived in service to God and humanity is not a life lost.
Meanwhile, the Governor later visited the palace of Elekota of Kota, Oba Emmanuel Fagbemi and the Olomuo of Omuo Ekiti, Oba Omonigbehin Adejuwon to commiserate with the monarchs, their chiefs, and the people of the town over the passing of the late Jurist.
