“Oyebanji Has Not Betrayed the Social Contract”— Bamisile Celebrates Governor’s Mid term

A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Bamisile, has saluted Governor Biodun Oyebanji for keeping diligently and firmly to the social contract he signed with Ekiti populace two years ago.

Bamisile, who is representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, said Gov Oyebanji has succeeded in gaining the trust and confidence of Ekiti citizens by his inclusive governance and stunning performance, that have reset the state on the path of peace, unity and speedy development.

The federal lawmaker said these in a statement congratulating gov Oyebanji on his mid term celebration, holding on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

In his commendation, the Chairman, House Committee on Delegated Legislation, described Oyebanji’s inclusive leadership model as unique and a style that has gained traction across Nigeria, thereby promoting mutual trust between the government and the governed.

Bamisile said with the vibes Oyebanji’s acceptability and popularity are garnering in town and among the masses, that he has no doubt that his second term has become a fait accompli, if the current momentum is maintained and sustained.

Specifically, the representative of the Gbonyin/Ekiti East/Emure Federal Constituency, praised the governor for his love for the commoners, which he manifested through regular payment of pension and gratuity to retirees.

Bamisile added that the governor had exhibited uncommon love for the masses through aggressive rural road construction through RAAMP project and intra and inter town roads, while also partnering the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the federal roads like Ado-Ikere- Akure road and Ado-Ijan-Ikare road are awarded and reconstructed.

He said: “Let me on behalf of my family and constituents congratulate our amiable Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his two years of progressive and participatory governance in our dear state.

“I am indeed happy on the premise that the governor has not betrayed the social contract he signed with the masses upon assumption of office two years ago. This vividly reflected in the way he has been executing his six point agenda as a compass of government’s development programme.

“The governor has done exceeding well in promoting education through increased subventions to tertiary institutions, increased running grants to secondary schools, employment of over 20,000 youths into public and private sectors, building of youth capacities via Adire Hub and MSMEs Clinic, provision of security for farmers to return to farms, provision of over N1 billion for traders, construction of many state roads, while also facilitating that of the federal.

“The flagships of them all are the gradual completion of the Ekiti State Agro Allied Cargo Airport that will expose Ekiti to the world, the flyover that will expose Ekiti capital city to better business opportunities and the Ekiti State Ring Road Phase 1 that will create a suburban city in Ado Ekiti for more development and to decongest the capital city.

“A vivid dissection of the six point agenda of the government shows that Governor Oyebanji has succeeded in working across all the set pillars to give our people all- round development.

“I want to appreciate all Ekiti people, the traditional rulers, politicians and particularly members of executive council at the state level and the Ekiti State caucus at both chambers of the National Assembly for their unflinching support that brought about this celebrated development under Gov Oyebanji’s leadership.

“More of these are required for him to end his first term well to benefit our people who are gradually gaining trust in leadership”.

Predicting the 2026 governorship poll, Bamisile opined that Gov Oyebanji has succeeded in breaking all barriers and uphills that could have impeded his second term by gaining the trust of the masses through good performance to earn acceptability among the electorate.

“Democracy is about the people. The electorate are the pivot on which it rotates and once Gov Oyebanji has gained the trust of critical stakeholders like political leaders across party lines, elite, traditional rulers, traders, okada riders, students and politicians, I have no doubt that the 2026 election shall be easier for him”, Bamisile stated.
