Osun State Parastatal Monitoring Officers pays working visit to OSCOTECH

The Chairman, Governing Council of Osun State College of Technology, OSCOTECH, Esa-Oke, Hon. Prince Diran Odeyemi on Monday received officers from the Osun State Parastatal Monitoring Office in the college.

The visitors were led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusola Bolaji, the Director, Admin. and Supply, Mr Adeagbo Adedere and Mr. Folorunso Joseph Lasun.

According to a statement by S.A Media and Public Relations, Ajilore A.O said the Permanent Secretary congratulated Prince Odeyemi on his well-deserved appointment as the Chairman Governing Council of OSCOTECH, Esa-Oke.

He observed that Osun State has a healthy youthful population which if properly channelled, would contribute positively towards the development of the State.

He maintained that the propose of their visit is to interface with the College with a view to reporting progress made by the institution to the government, as well as finding out areas where the College needs assistance from the government.

He commended the institution for progress recorded in academic innovations while calling for re-orientation of youths against travelling abroad for Greener pastures, but rather focus on job re-skilling which could make them less dependant on government white collar jobs.

He described the Chairman and the Rector as visionary leaders whose synergy has resulted in the peace and progress the college is presently enjoying.

On his part, the Rector, Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke thanked the visitors for their visit while maintaining that courses in the college are designed to make the students self reliant and not necessarily dependant on government white collar jobs.

He said the college has programmes designed for upgrading Certicates and up skilling personnels for the present work place challenges.

The Rector stated affirmatively that the college is capable to do skills acquisition empowerment programmes for politicians if consulted.

According to him, “the college has enough personnels for short courses training and re-training of State and Local Government Staff in Town Planning, Surveying and other professional programmes.”

However, the Rector listed the challenges of the institution to include insufficient funding and shortage of Staff.

The Governing Council Chairman, Prince Odeyemi, who received the Permanent Secretary and his entourage in his office, thanked the visitors for deeming it fit to pay the institution a visit.

Prince Odeyemi, who appreciated the Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for appointing him as Chairman, Governing Council of OSCOTECH equally thanked the Management and Staff of the institution for the good reputation already built while promising to support the institution in ensuring that more progress is made during his tenure.

He sympathized with the IGR Staff and promised to personally make a case for them with the State Government.
