Management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, says the institution has developed in many areas including academic, infrastructure, staff training, students welfare, administrative and sporting.
The rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Dayo Oladebeye stated this in Ado Ekiti during a press conference to herald the 18th combined convocation of the institution.
Dr Oladebeye who will be leaving as rector in the next four months explained that about fourteen thousand National and Higher National diploma graduands of three sets would be convocated during the programme.
He said some prominent Nigerians including Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Minister for work, Babatunde Raji-Fashola wife of Aare Babablol, Yeye Aare, Modupe Babalola, prince Rotimi Ibidapo, alumnus of the Polytechnic will be given honourary awards.
Dr Oladebeye used the forum to appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for the opportunity given to him to serve as the first alumnus rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, saying resources of the institution was judiciously managed to achieve many things.
The rector therefore said ageing physical infrastructure, inadequate books and others learning materials, dilipidated staff quarters, paucity of funds, lack and very poor condition of vehicles, inadequate teaching facilities among others were challenges hindering full realization of the institution’s goal.
He called on well meaning Nigerians to assist the Polytechnic for teaching and learning.
Dr Oladebeye told journalists that collection of convocation material will take place on Tuesday, on Wednesday there will be commissioning of projects, thursday alumni variety day reunion and lecture, Friday, convocation lecture while combinen convocation for National and Higher National Diploma will hold on Saturday
