Ogun State Electoral Body Prepares for Local Govt Elections, Announces Key Dates

The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has announced the timeline for the upcoming local government elections. This information was disclosed by the OGSIEC Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, in a statement released to journalists on Tuesday.

According to Osibodu, the electoral guidelines and stakeholder meeting are set for Thursday, August 8, 2024. This will set the stage for political activities leading up to the elections. Political parties’ campaigns will begin the following day, on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Osibodu also announced that political parties will hold primaries from Monday, August 26 until Monday, September 9, 2024. These primaries will select candidates for the local government elections.

The announcement marks the beginning of a critical phase in Ogun State’s democratic process, as political parties and candidates prepare to engage with the electorate.
