…admonishes Corps members to Contribute to Nation-building

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has admonished corps members in the State to exemplify a high level of discipline, maturity, commitment and patriotism so as to promote nation-building.
The Governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sport, Barr. Bamidele Arowosola made this known at the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Ekiti Permanent Orientation Camp, Ise-Orun/Emure, while delivering his address during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course.
Speaking at the event, he reiterated the major objectives of the Scheme, which according to him, is “to raise the moral tone of the Nigerian youths by giving them the opportunity to learn about higher ideals of national achievements, social and cultural improvement, removing prejudices, eliminating ignorance and confirming at first hand; the many similarities among Nigerians of all ethnic groups”.
He therefore, urged corps members to develop a sense of corporate existence and imbibe the spirit of positivism in moulding the destiny of Nigeria.
In addition, the Governor encouraged corps members to maintain zealousness and shun every form of misconduct and negative tendency in their Place of Primary Assignment, PPA and among members of their host communities.
Highlighting the importance of the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, Governor Oyebanji advised the corps members to participate in the skills acquisition training to increase their financial status.
Similarly, NYSC Ekiti State Coordinator, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu, who addressed the corps members at the event, urged them to remember the essence of the NYSC programme, which is to foster unity and integration.
He further cautioned corps members to shun unauthorized journeys and unlawful activities, imploring them to respond positively and promptly to all invitations to contribute a quota to all government activities manifesting the core values of the NYSC scheme.
